Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday accused the opposition parties of spreading incorrect information about COVID-19 through mainstream media and social media platforms.
Following a meeting with Governor Satya Pal Malik, the chief minister said the governor had expressed concerns about wrong information about COVID-19 being circulated by social and mainstream media.
Sawant met the governor in the presence of state Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and Health Secretary Neela Mohanan to brief him about the steps taken to contain the viral outbreak in the coastal state.
The media is not to be blamed, but the opposition parties and leaders have been giving wrong information which is carried through media, he said.
Goa, which has recorded 2,951 COVID-19 cases so far, will be observing a three-day lockdown starting Friday.
