Amazon, an e-commerce company, announced Wednesday it will aim to export India’s goods worth $20 billion by 2025. It is thus double its goal.

Amazon committed to $10 billion cumulative Indian exports by 2020.

According to the company, cumulative exports of Indian micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), via its “Global Selling” programme are on track for surpassing $5 billion.

It took three years for the program to allow the first billion dollars. The last two billion dollars were made in 17 months, Amazon stated during the ‘Exports Digest 2022’ event.

Narayan Rane (Union Minister of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises) stated that “Enhancing India’s export potential is a key priority and government efforts are being made for Indian MSMEs to succeed in international markets.”

This global program has been well-received by all types of businesses across the country. It has now grown to more than 1 million (100K) exporters, since its inception in 2015. They can showcase their products worldwide via Amazon’s 18 international sites.

“We are expanding our promise to increase India’s exports via ecommerce to $20 billion by 2020. We will continue working with all stakeholders to make exports simpler for Indian MSMEs,” said Amit Agarwal SVP India and Emerging Markets Amazon.

Amazon Global Selling has more than 1000 Indian exporters. Last year, they sold over Rs 1 crore.

According to the company, many Indian entrepreneurs and businesses became globally successful brands in 2021. This demonstrates the popularity of “Made in India” products in international markets.
