On Tuesday, October 31st, the nation observes the birth anniversary of India’s first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. On this occasion, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Unity Run at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in Delhi and also took the oath. Addressing the crowd, Amit Shah said that everyone must resolve to make India the world leader.

At the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium, he said, “If Sardar Patel hadn’t been there, neither would we be standing here, nor would India’s map have looked like this. After independence, the British had left this country divided into pieces. If Sardar Patel hadn’t been there, this day wouldn’t exist. After the Amrit Mahotsav of independence, today is the first day. We must pledge that when the nation celebrates the centenary of independence, India will be the foremost in the world.”
Amit Shah stated that more than 7,000 participants are present at the event. Taking the oath, he said, “I take a solemn oath that I will dedicate myself to maintaining the unity and integrity of the nation and work to instill this thought in the minds of the citizens. I take this oath in the name of Sardar Patel. I also take this solemn oath to ensure the internal security of my country.”
Before this, he paid tribute to Sardar Patel on the social media platform ‘Twitter’ by writing, “The unity and prosperity of India were the sole objectives of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s life. With his unwavering determination, political acumen, and hard work, he united more than 550 princely states to create an organized nation. Sardar Sahab’s work for nation-building, both as a dedicated life and as the country’s first Home Minister, will always inspire us. On the birth anniversary of the Iron Man, I pay my heartfelt homage to him and extend warm wishes to all countrymen on ‘National Unity Day’.”
National Unity Day, also known as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, is observed to commemorate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary and promote the value of unity among Indians.
