AR Rahman and Gulzar team up for Subrata Roy biopic

Oscar-winning composers A.R. Rahman and Gulzar, the legendary writer-poet/filmmaker, are joining forces for an upcoming project. It is a biopic about Subrata Roy, a business tycoon.

Rahman stated that “Gulzar Saab’s soulful lyrics were extremely inspiring for musicians and I hope to do justice the lyrics and the story.” This collaboration is exciting to me. Gulzar said, “It will have been a pleasure to work with Rahman again.” Subrata Roy is an inspiring and mysterious person. Rahman is an amazing musician and artist, and I look forward for this collaboration.” Subrata Roy is Chairman of Sahara India Pariwar. In 2010, Subrata Roy and his companies were banned by the Securities and Exchange Board of India.

According to reports, the regulator made allegations against the group that they had raised many crores using optionally fully convertible debentures (OFCDs), which SEBI considered illegal. Roy was jailed for more than two years.

Roy is currently on parole since 2016.

Last month, Subrata Roy’s biopic was made public when it was revealed that Sandeep Singh had purchased the rights to the film.

Sandeep Singh is producing the film. It is expected to span many continents and follow the journey of the tycoon over the years. Soon, the title and cast for the biopic will be revealed.

It needs the support and help of these geniuses to realize this dream on 70mm.”
