In the ongoing elections in Telangana today (November 30), not only common people but also celebrities and prominent leaders are participating in the voting process. Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM), cast his vote at a polling booth along with his family after which he addressed the media.
After voting in Hyderabad, Owaisi appealed to the people of Hyderabad and Telangana, saying, “I appeal to all the people of Hyderabad and Telangana to use your vote. Strengthen the Ganga-Jamuni culture of Telangana. Come out of your homes and cast your vote. Everyone whose name is in the voter list should vote.” He further stated, “If we want to strengthen democracy, we must vote.”
Responding to Revanth Reddy’s statement on his oath-taking on the 9th, Owaisi said, “Revanth is saying something, he has to say something. Rahul Gandhi had no issue. For his sister, for his party, for BJP, and for RSS, I am the issue.”
Regarding the use of fake videos in the election, Owaisi mentioned, “It’s not good for anyone to use fake videos.”
When asked about the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Owaisi stated, “The momentum after this election will continue. Ramadan, the holy month, will also be there at that time.”
Regarding the influx of money in the Telangana elections, Owaisi mentioned, “A lot of money has come from neighboring states. A lot of money has been caught. It’s regrettable. It seems like they are talking about guarantees, and they are also giving money.”
In the current elections, AIMIM is contesting on nine seats in collaboration with the Bharatiya Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas. In the 2018 Assembly elections, AIMIM, led by Owaisi, contested on eight seats and won seven.
These are the seven AIMIM MLAs:
- Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala from Malakpet
- Jaffar Hussain from Nampally
- Kausar Mohiuddin from Karwan
- Mumtaz Ahmed Khan from Charminar
- Akbaruddin Owaisi from Chandrayangutta
- Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri from Yakutpura
- Mohammed Moazam Khan from Bahadurpura
AIMIM has a stronghold in various districts besides Hyderabad, such as Rangareddy, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Vikarabad, and Sangareddy. The party has been dominating these areas for a long time, and it has AIMIM councillors in almost every local body in Telangana.
