BTS, a South Korean boy band, will host a concert worldwide to support Korea’s bid for the 2030 World Expo in Busan.
HYBE Chairman Bang Si-Hyuk, CEO Park Jiwon and Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City Park Heongjoon signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Busan Metropolitan City Hall this morning to support Busan’s bid to host the World Expo 2030. BTS will host the Global Busan Concert as part of the agreement.
The memorandum includes joint initiatives for Busan’s success in its bid to be the host. The memorandum allows BTS to “act in the role of ambassadors”, host a global concert in Busan and organize activities to appeal the members to the Bureau International des Expositionss (BIE); and introduce the site to the Enquiry Missions to BIE.” They will also be required to “serve the ambassadors at South Korea’s presentation session”, present the bid on election day, provide photos, videos, and spread promotional videos via the official social media channels.
Chairman Bang stated, “Given its bid to host the World Expo 2030 at Busan, BTS/HYBE will do their best to bring the World Expo to Busan.” This will be an excellent opportunity to help further develop K-Culture and its local pop culture in Busan.
Mayor Park stated, “I’d love to express my sincere gratitude to the members BTS and HYBE that accepted to be ambassadors for the World Expo 2030 Busan.” This group’s support will be invaluable in helping us to accelerate our efforts to bring World Expo to Busan.
This news comes just days after BTS members had announced that they would be taking a break in order to concentrate on their solo projects. BTS consists of seven members – Jin, RM, Suga and J. Hope, Jimin V and Jungkok are commanded by Rm.
