Check out the list of upcoming Marvel movie releases, casting members, and more

In a major rescheduling, Disney has delayed five Marvel movies and canceled release dates for two others. Marvel Cinematic Universe is well-known for its meticulously planned timelines. Each movie relies on the other for its continuation and set-up. Marvel Studios had to postpone all movies and TV shows scheduled for 2020 due to the coronavirus epidemic. This was a significant challenge to their franchise. After several adjustments, the MCU seems to have settled on a time frame.

The year began with Disney+ programs such as WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. However, they weren’t as difficult to prepare as the movies. Black Widow, the first 2020 photo, arrived in July. Shang-Chi followed in September by the Legend of the Ten Rings and Shang-Chi. Two additional movies are planned by the MCU for the remainder of the year: Spider-Man: The Way Home (a Sony release) and Eternals.

The MCU’s 2022 and 2023 calendars have been rearranged. Disney officially announced the postponement of five Marvel movies, beginning with Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness. The original release date was March 20, 2022. However, it has been moved to May 6, 2022. This is the new release date of Thor: Love and Thunder. It will be available July 8, 2022. The sequel’s release date has been moved to November 11, 2022. The Marvels have already left 2022, and the sequel will be released February 17, 2023. Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania was also rescheduled to July 28, 2023.

Two unnamed Marvel movies were also cancelled for 2023. One of them has been rescheduled to be on November 3, 2023. It had been originally scheduled for November 10, but was rescheduled for one week later. Two unnamed MCU movies were due to be released on October 6 and July 28 respectively. The massive delays appear to be due to production problems rather than concerns about box office. This makes sense considering Shang-Chi is already the highest-grossing film in 2021 at this time. Disney also changed Indiana Jones 5, a live-action movie that was not named, release dates. However, Marvel received the greatest adjustments because of the MCU’s intertwined structure.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. is the only remaining MCU movie for this year. 3 is scheduled to be released in May 2023. This could indicate that the film isn’t as closely linked to other pursuits. It’s not as important where it falls in the general timeline. Due to the MCU’s continuing universe narrative, sequels such as Ant-Man 3 and Doctor Strange 2 are meant to blend in with each other and move in sync.

It is disappointing news for Marvel fans, who had been eagerly awaiting all the movies. However, it shouldn’t be surprising at this point. Marvel Studios is not the only studio that has had to adapt to this epidemic. This will hopefully become a sustainable practice.
