Doja Cat reinvented fashion by dressing up in a chair hat and chicken feet boots to be a rapper and host at the MTV Video Music Awards 2021.
According to pagesix.com, the singer of ‘Need to know’, aged 25, performed onstage in four extravagant outfits at Sunday’s VMAs.
Doja Cat (real name Amala Ratna Dlamini) walked the red carpet wearing a black VivienneWestwood corset with purple draping, red thigh-high latex socks, and strappy platform shoes.
Her hair was parted half-up and streaked in scarlet.
Her hairdresser told Page Six Style that she was inspired by rock and glam in the ’90s.
The stylist said, “This is my London street style that she absolutely loved.” She changed her hair and wore a platinum blonde straightener on stage. She kept the same corset but added a pair baggy black pants from Westwood.
Doja donned a platinum bob, wide-leg red trousers and a matching crop top to her high-flying acrobatic performance.
Surprise surprise! A trippy quilt-inspired midi-dress with built-in hood, long sleeves and a built-in hood caught everyone’s attention.
“I look like an worm.” She said it while accepting the Best Collab award together with musician SZA for their song “Kiss Me More”.
Doja Cat said, “I never imagined I’d be dressed up as a worm while accepting an Award.” The red chair hat she wore as a hat was a finishing touch. She later used it to make a seat.
This was a set of eye-catching chicken feet boots paired with a Pilgrim-style cap.
The singer received five nominations, including Video of the year, making her the first host to be nominated in the category.
