England has a strong bowling team despite Archer and Stokes’ absence: Gatting

Mike Gatting, former England skipper, said that Joe Root’s side in the Ashes series in Australia will be without pace bowler Jofra Arker and all-rounder Ben Stokes. However, the tourists have a strong pace lineup of Mark Wood and Chris Woakes, along with Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad, to compensate for their absences during the long tour.

Gatting believed that England has a balanced seam attack. This is contrary to Michael Vaughan, a former captain of England who believes that the tourists don’t have an attack that will blow Australia away.

Gatting stated on Wednesday that Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes will be missed.

Mark Wood (Woody) can bowl some very good spells and quick spells. I am so happy that Woakesy (Chris Woakes), is back in good form. I think he is an excellent cricketer, both with bat and ball. This is a huge bonus for me. He could go on a very big trip.

“Craig Overton, a young lad with a lot of pace, has a good bounce on wickets. Gatting stated that England’s pace attack would not be as fast as the Aussies.

It won’t be as aggressive as the Australian attack but it will be a sensible attack that has a lot of experience. Jimmy Anderson is a world-class player these days, and he can bowl on any pitch. Although he won’t steam through you, his experience and the way he bowls it will make you feel much better.

Broady (Stuart Broad) is a well-known player. He can also bowl good spells. Gatting said that he believes the youngsters will add to the ability of bowling longer spells than others. Woody will, however, hopefully provide the pace you need.”
