Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced a new update on his Instagram channel. He revealed that Instagram users will now be able to share their posts and reels with close friends. Currently, you can only share your stories with specific friends. However, soon you will be able to share posts and reels with either your friends or everyone. To do this, you need to go to the audience option during the creation of reels or posts.

In the current story feature, if someone replies to your story, you receive it in your DMs. But if a close friend comments or likes your post or reel, this information will be visible to all your close friends, providing them with the ability to see these interactions. Unlike stories, when a post or reel is set to close friends, a green star will appear, indicating its restricted visibility. This new feature aims to enhance privacy by allowing users to share special moments with only a select group of people.
To share posts or reels with close friends:
- Choose the post or reel you want to share and click on “Next.”
- Add a caption, as usual.
- Then, select the “Close Friends” option in the audience settings.
It’s important to note that this option will be available once you have received the latest update. If you haven’t received the update, ensure that your app is up-to-date.
