In the early hours of Sunday, security forces and terrorists clashed in Tujan village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama.
According to the Kashmir Zone Police, the current encounter is underway.
“Encounter began at Tujjan in Pulwama. The task is being done by police and security forces. “We will provide more details,” the Kashmir Zone Police tweeted earlier today.
Meanwhile, one terrorist was killed by the security forces during an encounter in the Tulibal section of Sopore town in J-K’s Baramulla.
At 3.49 AM, the police received information about the Sopore encounter.
“Encounter started at Tulibal Area of Sopore. The police tweeted that security forces and police were on the job.
Kashmir Vijay Kumar (IGP), Inspector General of Police (IGP), said Monday that seven terrorists, three Pakistanis included, were killed during clashes with security personnel in the Valley.
“An encounter began in Kupwara on Sunday. Yesterday saw the deaths of two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists (LeT) from Pakistan. An additional terrorist from Pakistan was shot dead today morning (Monday). IGP Kashmir stated that Showkat, a Shopian terrorist, was also gunned down together with him.” ANI.
“In Pulwama a terrorist from LeT was killed. Kulgam saw the death of a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist (JeM), and a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist (LeT). So far, seven terrorists have been killed. Three were Pakistanis while four were local terrorists. Kupwara, Pulwama were the scene of encounters. “Searches are underway in Kulgam,” said the official.
Jammu and Kashmir Police said that terrorists and security forces also clashed in Chatpora, Pulwama, and DH Pora, Kulgam on Sunday.
Kupwara Police, along with the Army’s 28,RR, launched a joint antiterrorist operation to find Showket Ahmed Sheikh.
As a result of incidents of targeted killings in Kashmir, security forces are alert and some sections of the minority community have threatened to move large numbers of people if they don’t get their homes.
Rajnath Singh (Defense Minister) was in Jammu and Kashmir for a two-day visit. He had asked the people to resist inimical forces from tearing the social fabric. He also noted that the electoral process will likely begin in the next few months.
Rajnath Singh also mentioned Pakistan in a subtle reference and stated that some forces were trying the sow seeds for hatred in the Union Territory.
He stated that there is an international conspiracy behind the recent targeted killings at Jammu-Kashmir and that any attempts to stop it would be defeated.
