In the midst of power tussle at Chhattisgarh Congress, CM Baghel called Delhi again

The party”s central leadership called Chief Minister Bhupesh baghel to Delhi Friday amid a power dispute in the ruling Congress of Chhattisgarh. This was just days after Rahul Gandhi had met with other senior leaders in Delhi.

Sources claim he will meet K C Venugopal, general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC).

Sources claim that some Congress MLAs are also going to Delhi to show support for the chief minister amid talk of a leadership change.

After 15 years of being in power, the Congress is now witness to a spat between Baghel & Health Minister T S Singh Deo. Deo has claimed the title of chief minister and cited a post-poll agreement regarding rotating chief ministerships.

Baghel, Deo and Rahul Gandhi met on Tuesday. On Wednesday, they held talks with Venugopal.

PTI was contacted by P L Punia, the AICC in-charge of Chhattisgarh, who told PTI that Chief Minister Bhupesh baghel would be in the capital tomorrow after he had requested time from the AICC General Secretary.

Punia however clarified that no MLA was called to Delhi and dismissed media reports.

Baghel, who had just left Delhi for Raipur on Wednesday, was greeted warmly in Raipur by a host of Congress leaders and MLAs. This apparent support show was evident.

Baghel stated that Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have given him the responsibility to run the state government. He will resign if they ask him.

He also stated that those who seek a rotating chief ministry were creating political instability in Raipur.

Baghel was caught in the middle of the storm after the state introduced a bill to purchase a private medical school. The management of which includes family members of his in-laws.
