India has a new sub-variant of the Covid Omicron Omicron

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus from World Health Organisation stated that the Omicron sub-variant BA.2.75 has been identified in various countries, including India.
Ghebreyesus stated that the world body was following the developments.
“Globally reported cases of COVID-19 have increased nearly 30% over the past week,” Ghebreyesus said. Ghebreyesus stated that cases increased in four of six WHO sub-regions during Wednesday’s press conference.
“In Europe, America, BA.4 & BA.5 are driving waves. The WHO chief stated that a new sub-lineage has been identified in countries such as India. This is something we’re monitoring.
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India reported 16159 new COVID cases within the last 24 hours.
According to the Health Ministry 15,394 COVID sufferers recovered from the disease over the period. This brings the total number for recoveries since the outbreak of the pandemic in the nation to 4,29 7,327. The current rate of recovery is 98.53%.
Soumya Swaminathan, WHO Chief Scientist, stated yesterday that there was an emerging sub-variant being called the BA.2.75. She stated, “First reported from India, then about 10 countries,”
Although there are not many sequences of this subvariant available to analyse, it appears to have some mutations in the spike protein’s receptor-binding domain. This is a crucial part of the virus which attaches to the human receptor. We need to keep an eye on that. It is still early to determine if the sub-variant may have additional immune evasion properties or be more clinically severe. “We don’t know this,” said the Chief Scientist.
She said that “So we must wait and see” and that it is being monitored by the world health organization and its Technical Advisory Group for SARS-CoV-2 Virus evolution (TAG-VE), which continuously examines data from around the globe.
WHO Incident Manager COVID-19 Abdi Mahamud indicated that now is not a time to declare that there is a pandemic.
“We are still in the midst the pandemic, and the virus still has a lot of power. The virus will not stop, no matter what its name is: BA.4/BA.5, BA.2.75, or BA.2.55. He said that it does what it does well.
He said that communities and individuals must continue wearing masks, avoid crowds, and protect the most vulnerable and at-risk populations.
