India sprinter Hima Das tests COVID-19 positive

Hima Das, Ace Indian’s athlete, revealed Wednesday that she had tested positive for COVID-19 but is stable in isolation.

The 21-year-old reported to the Patiala National Institute of Sport (NIS), where she was to resume her training after an injury sustained at the Inter State Athletics Championships. She did however show signs of mild exhaustion upon her arrival in Patiala.

“I am happy to let everyone know that I was tested positive for Covid-19. I am stable at the moment and can be left alone. “I look forward to using this time to recuperate and come back stronger than ever before,” Das tweeted. “A gentle reminder to everyone to wear masks and stay safe. Hima competed last at the Inter-State meet. This qualifies her for the Olympic Games. She opted to run in the 200m finals instead of the 100m finals or the 4x100m relay women’s relay.

After missing the qualification mark, the sprinter did not make it to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Hima holds the national records in the women’s 400m, 4A-100m relay and 4x400m mixed relay races.
