India will achieve 100 Cr-vax by Oct 14, Centre plans major event

India is well on track to reach the 100-crore target for vaccine doses by October 14. A top Health Ministry source stated that the government has begun preparing for a mega event.

According to IANS, the goal of 100 million vaccine doses will be met on October 14. The feat will be celebrated by India as victory over Covid ‘evil spirits’ in a celebration similar to the Vijayadashami festival which celebrates the triumph of good over evil.

 

According to a source, “The day will be celebrated in India as victory over the evil spirit Covid.” He said that the government is working hard to reach its goal of 100 million doses by this date.

To celebrate the victory over Covid, the Health Ministry plans to hold a grand celebration on Vijayadashami. All departments involved have been instructed to prepare in advance for dissemination via media. This mega celebration will include frontline workers, healthcare personnel, and Covid warriors who played a crucial role in reaching the 100 crore doses target.

India is hosting the largest global vaccination drive against Covid-19. “It will be a special occasion for us to celebrate when 100 crore doses have been administered,” said the source.

 

“It’s most likely that Prime Minister NarendraModi will address the nation after the country achieves remarkable feat of 100 million doses,” the source said. He may also announce for the Covid warriors who died fighting the pandemic, saving lives, and so on.

India has so far administered 1,03,754,424 first doses of vaccines and 90.36,583 seconds doses of vaccines for Healthcare workers. Up to Tuesday morning, the frontline workers received 1,83,592,259 first doses and 1,53,988,857 second doses of vaccines.

The first doses were given to 38,68 20,261 adults aged 18-44. 1040,73 5,546 received both doses.

The first dose was administered to 16,61 56,424 people, and the second dose to 8,38,76 3,362 were given to those aged 45-59.

 

According to data from Tuesday morning, the Health Ministry shared the following information: 10,48,69202 vaccines were administered as the first dose for elderly persons over 60 years old, and 6,00,12.131 as the second dose for those aged over 60 years.

India has given over 95.89 Crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine to date. 68.86 Lakh people were inoculated within the last 24 hours.

Six states and six union territories have administered at least one dose to the 18+ population. This includes Lakshadweep and Chandigarh as well as Himachal Pradesh and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Sikkim. According to the latest data from the health ministry, 12 states and 14 union territories have administered at least the first dose of the medication to over 80 percent of the adult population.

India continues to exhibit declining trends in daily Covid caseloads.

 

India reported Tuesday 14,313 new Covid cases within the last 24 hours. This is the lowest number of cases recorded in the past 224 days. The Union Health Ministry reported that 181 deaths were also reported during the same period. This brings the death toll up to 4,50,963,

The current active caseload stands at 2,14,900. This is the lowest level in 212 days. Active Covid cases currently make up 0.63 percent of all positive cases in the country.

For the past 109 days, the weekly positivity rate of 1.48 percent has remained below 3 per cent. According to data from the ministry of health, the daily positivity rate is at a low level of 3.8% for the past 43 days and below 5% for 126 consecutive days.
