Amid the excitement of the 2023 World Cup, significant updates have surfaced regarding IPL 2024. These updates include the release and retention lists of IPL teams, as well as the final dates for player auctions. All ten IPL franchises are required to submit their lists of retained and released players to the IPL committee by November 15. One month later, the player auction is set to take place.

According to the report, within three weeks of unveiling the release and retention lists of all ten franchises, the auction pool will be prepared at the beginning of December. The auction is scheduled for December 19 and will be held in Dubai. This marks the first time that the IPL auction is taking place overseas. On the same day, Team India will be playing its second ODI match against South Africa during the South Africa tour.
Increase in Purse Value
This time, each franchise will have a purse of 100 crore rupees to build their teams, up from 95 crore in the previous season. Currently, Punjab Kings hold the highest purse value with 12.20 crore rupees, while Mumbai Indians have the lowest with only 5 lakh rupees. However, it will become clear on November 15, when the details of retained and released players are made public, how much each franchise will have for the upcoming auction.
IPL Return for Some Players!
This season, there is speculation about the return of some foreign players to the IPL. Among them, Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc is at the forefront. Along with Starc, players like Alex Hales, Sam Billings, Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Chris Woakes, and Gerald Coetzee might also be part of the auction. It’s worth mentioning that in the last auction, English all-rounder Sam Curran became the most expensive player in IPL history, bought by Punjab Kings for 18.5 crore rupees.
