ATK Mohun Bagan signed Brendan Hamill (Australian A-League) star defender ahead of the Indian Super League 2022-23 season.
The 29-year old defender was born in Sydney and began his career playing in youth clubs in Australia. He made his professional debut in 2010 at Melbourne Heart FC, now renamed as Melbourne City FC.
After spending two years at Melbourne City FC the defender made the move to South Korea’s top-ranking football K-League 1 side Seongnam FC. The defender spent two years playing in K-League 1 and didn’t see the desired results.
In 2014, he signed for the A-League team Western Sydney Wanderers. He was a star in the Western Sydney Wanderers team. Later, he was promoted to captain. The WSW defender was there for five years. He played 79 games and scored four goals.

“Hamill is a player that helps build up the game and who, with his experience, assists the team in difficult defensive moments. Juan Ferrando, ATK Mohun Bagan’s head coach, said that he will be an asset for the team.
Hamill was signed by Western United FC in 2019, an A-League team. In his two-year stay, the full-back played in 20 matches for Western United FC. He then signed a two-year contract with Melbourne Victory Club, 2021, and scored three goals in 18 matches.
He was also a member of the Australian U17, U20 and U23 national teams and played in 30 games. Hamill also participated in the Asian Olympics qualifying matches of the Senior team.
He has won numerous major trophies in his career. The 29-year old has won the AFC Champions League trophy with Western Sydney Wanderers in 2014. Also, he won the FFA Cup with Melbourne Victory in 2021.
Mariners’ defence will be strengthened with the addition of the Australian defender. Hamill and Tiri have the potential to be a problem for opposition strikers.
