Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, a militant belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba was killed in a confrontation with security forces. He was involved in several terrorist incidents, as per officials on Friday, December 1.
According to news agency, a police spokesperson stated that a covert tip-off about the presence of militants in Arihal village of South Kashmir prompted a search operation. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation on Thursday (April 30), surrounding the area.
Terrorist Initiates Firing: During the search operation, terrorists hiding in the area opened fire on the security forces. In response, the security forces engaged in a gun battle. The terrorist carried out heavy firing.
Identity of the Slain Militant: The spokesperson revealed that the killed terrorist has been identified as Khwaja Ayyub Ali. He was a resident of Pinjura in Shopian and associated with the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. His body was recovered from the encounter site. It was mentioned that police records indicate his involvement in multiple terrorist incidents. The police recovered a pistol, two magazines, five bullets, and two grenades from the encounter site.
Joint Operation’s Success: As per news agency, Pulwama Police, the army, and CRPF jointly conducted the operation, resulting in the elimination of the terrorist. The joint team faced intense gunfire from the concealed militant during the search operation. Several suspicious items were seized from the encounter site, and all recovered materials are now part of the ongoing investigation.
It’s worth noting that a recent encounter in Kashmir resulted in the elimination of two militants, while five soldiers from the army lost their lives.
