The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), announced Friday that the Indian cricket team will be wearing a new jersey in preparation for the T20 World Cup in Oman and the UAE starting October 17. The new jersey will be launched on October 13.
“This is the moment we have all been waiting for!” We invite you to join us at the big reveal at @mpl_sport on 13 October. Are you ready? BCCI tweeted the following tweet. MPL Sports, an athleisure brand and official kit sponsor of the Indian cricket team until December 2023, will launch the jersey. The jersey will replace the current navy-blue jersey, which was worn by the team since November, when they visited Australia. It features blue, green, and white stripes inspired by the 1992 World Cup kit.
“Our biggest inspiration is our fans at MPL Sports and we wanted to create a jersey that reflects them. This jersey is made from their energy, cheers, and emotion. This jersey is a blessing for all the fans who cannot physically be there to cheer on the team when it’s happening overseas.
Fans will be able to purchase the team jersey for the first time ever in Team India’s history at a very affordable price. Shobhit Gupta (Head – MPL Sports), released a statement stating that in addition to the new jersey, we will launch a variety of merchandise to show our love for the team.
The new jersey will be worn by the Indian team for the first time on October 18th, when they play against England. The jersey will be worn by India in its opening match against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup men’s on October 24.
The pre-booking period for the new jersey starts Friday and offers three options: Virat Kohli’s Number 18 jersey, player edition jersey, or fan jersey. Prices start at 1799 INR.
