More than 193.53 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses were provided to States and UTs: Govt

Thursday was a day of celebration for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It announced that more than 193.53 Crore doses of vaccine have been given to States and Union Territories as part of the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive.
According to government data, more than 13.28 million vaccines were still available in the United States and Union Territories.
“More Than 193.53 Crores (1,93 53,58,865) have been given to States, UTs via Government of India (free of costs channel) and direct state procurement category. According to government data, more than 13.28 billion (13.28.75.455) COVID vaccine doses remain available to the States. UTs will be administered.”

The Central Government has committed to speeding up and expanding coverage of COVID-19 vaccination in the country. The nationwide COVID-19 vaccine was implemented on January 16, 2021.
From June 21, 2021, the new phase of universalization for COVID-19 vaccine began. The availability of more vaccines and improved visibility to vaccine availability to States has accelerated the vaccination drive. This will allow States and UTs to better plan and streamline the vaccine supply chain.
The Government of India provided free COVID-19 vaccines to the States and UTs as part of its nationwide vaccination drive. In the next phase of the universalization COVID-19 vaccination drive the Union Government will procure 75 per cent vaccines from the vaccine producers in the country and provide them (free of charge) to States or UTs.
