Road built Without Land Acquisition: In Katni district of Madhya Pradesh, a case of construction of road on private land without land acquisition has come to the fore. A petition was filed in the Jabalpur High Court stating that the Katni district administration has constructed a government road on private land without acquisition. A single bench of Justice Sanjay Dwivedi directed the collector of Katni to investigate the matter as per rules and pay the appropriate compensation in lieu of taking the land. The court has given two months to the collector to take full action.

This case is about the land of Chammu Lal Kushwaha, Jeena Kachhi and Santosh Kushwaha, who live in Badkhera Neemkheda, Katni. The trio filed a petition and said that in the measles number 550 and 574, a road was built on some private land of the petitioners. Advocate Pramendra Sen, on behalf of the petitioners, told that the process of acquisition was not even adopted before taking the land.
Jabalpur High Court said this
When the petitioners demanded compensation by submitting an application to the SDO in lieu of the land, they were promised government land elsewhere. On this, the petitioners got a house built on government land at some distance but the district administration demolished it. After this, an application for compensation was made before the Tehsildar but no decision was taken on it. Regarding the matter, the court directed the collector to take a decision on giving compensation to the petitioners by giving them an opportunity of being heard.
