Over 140 health workers infected with COVID-19 in Nepal

Local media reported that a number of officials and health workers in Nepal have contracted the coronavirus from COVID-19, which is now a third wave.

Six government hospitals in Kathmandu Valley have seen 143 people test positive for COVID-19.

Khabarhub cited hospital sources to report that 65 health workers were infected by COVID-19 at TU Teaching Hospital. 35 at Bir Hospital. 25 at Patan Hospital. Four at Teku. Ten at Nepal Police Hospital. And four at Armed Police Force (APF).

According to Khabarhub, the number of infections in hospitals outside Kathmandu Valley is also increasing.

Sources at the hospital claim that 27 health workers and other staff were infected by COVID-19 at the District Hospital Dang, 15 at Bharatpur Hospital and four at Amppipal Hospital Gorkha, four at Amppipal Hospital Gorkha, four each at Banke and Nagayanpur Hospitals, Siraha.

Khabarhub reported that two health workers were infected by COVID-19 at Mahottari, Parsa, and one at Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital.

Experts warn that the entire country’s health system could collapse if COVID-19 is not controlled immediately.

Over the last 24 hours, Nepal has seen a total 5,087 coronavirus cases and 306 patients who were infected have recovered.

The Ministry of Health and Population reported that three deaths due to coronavirus were reported within the last 24 hours. Khabarhub reported that the COVID-19 death rate in the country has now reached 11,613,
