Pakistan PM Shehbaz arrives at London to meet Nawaz Sharif

Published on

Local media reported Wednesday that Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan’s Prime Minister, arrived in London to meet Nawaz Sharif (PML-N) supremo.
Shehbaz was joined by a delegation consisting of federal ministers and PMLN leaders. Ahsan Iqbal and Miftah Ismail were accompanied by Ayaz Sadiq and Marriyum Aurangzeb. Saad Rafiq and Khawaja Asif were also part of the delegation. Samaa TV reported this today.
Daily Times reported, quoting sources, that Nawaz Sharif has to consult the party leaders on important issues regarding which he is unsure. Also, the PMLN is expected to make “big decisions” which is why he rejected an offer to host an online meeting.
Nawaz spoke to London media and said that he looks forward to meeting Shehbaz Sharif, as well as other guests, the publication reported.

Nawaz is currently incarcerated in a corruption matter. He has been living in London since 2019 under the pretense of his ill health. On medical grounds, the former Pakistan PM requested extensions to his stay in London.
Nawaz claims that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) government left Pakistan during a severe economic crisis.
The meeting is scheduled to take place at Nawaz’s office at Stanhope House at 8 pm Pakistan time.
Nawaz also met with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Chairman of PPP, last month. He was later appointed Pakistan’s federal Minister.
In a joint statement, the two allies stated that they had agreed to cooperate to “repair rot across the board”.
