Leaders from Palestinian factions, including Islamic Hamas Movement have called for Friday’s day of rage to support Palestinians held in Israeli prisons.
Wasel Abu Yasef, a member the Palestine Liberation Organization’s executive committee, told reporters in Ramallah, that all West Bank and Gaza factions had agreed to declare Friday a day for rage, according to Xinhua news agency.
Abu Yousef stated that Friday will be a day for confrontation with Israeli soldiers at checkpoints and roadblocks in solidarity to prisoners and rejecting the innumerable violations of their rights.
Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), in Gaza, stated in separate press statements that they called on Palestinians in West Bank and East Jerusalem for a day-of-rage on Friday.
Tariq Selmi (spokesman for the group in Gaza), stated that the PIJ called on all Palestinian people not to abandon the state of anger in the Palestinian territory.
Six Palestinian prisoners managed to escape from Gilboa prison, northern Israel, via a tunnel that they dug beneath the prison.
Later, Israeli authorities tightened their prisoner control measures.
