Pramod Bhagat, an ace shuttler, won a gold medal at Tokyo Paralympics 2020. He returned home to Odisha, his home state, on Friday afternoon.
Pramod received a warm welcome by the state government at the Biju Patnaik international airport amid cheers and chants. Tusharkanti Bhera, the State Sports Minister, and Secretary R. Vineel Krishna, welcomed Pramod, a Paralympics gold medallist to the airport.
Pramod thanked the people and state for their warm welcome. He also said that this year’s Nuakhai, a western Odisha festival, will be marked with the joy of the golden medal. According to the shuttler, his next goal is to win another medal at the Paris Paralympics 2024.
According to schedule, Chief Minister Naveen Patel will felicitate Pramod tonight at the Kalinga Stadium. Already, the Odisha government announced that it would provide Rs 6 crore as well as a Group-A job for the ace shuttler.
Pramod beat Daniel Bethell from Great Britain to win the gold medal in badminton singles men’s SL3 at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020.
