Rahul and Priyanka are now allowed to visit Lakhimpur

Uttar Pradesh’s Yogi Amityanath government allowed Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka and three others to travel to Lakhimpur on Wednesday to meet with the families of those who died in Sunday’s violence at a farmers protest.

After a meeting at the highest level with high-ranking officials, the decision was made.

Sources claim that Narendra Modi, Prime Minister, had spoken to Adityanath, Chief Minister, on the subject.

Senior officials stated that the Gandhis would be allowed to travel to Lakhimpur along with three other people.

They are likely to be accompanied by Bhupesh Baghel (Chhattisgarh Chief Minister), Charanjit Singh Channi (Punjab Chief Minister) and Randeep Surjewala (Congress leader).

Baghel was refused permission to meet Priyanka in Sitapur and had to return to Lucknow airport.

Priyanka Gandhi is currently being released on a personal guarantee. Sanjay Singh, a member of Aam Aadmi Party, was also released and is currently on his way to Lakhimpur.

Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party, who was at a Shahjahanpur function on Wednesday, has changed his mind and is now heading towards Lakhimpur.
