Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been allotted a bungalow in Tughlaq Lane for over two months now, but he hasn’t moved back to his old residence yet. Rahul Gandhi is currently residing at 10 Janpath, which is the official residence of his mother, Sonia Gandhi. This is where crucial Congress meetings often take place. It remains unclear when Rahul will return to his Tughlaq Lane bungalow.

Rahul Gandhi faced defamation charges for his comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and a Gujarat court sentenced him to a two-year jail term. However, the Gujarat High Court stayed the sentence. After the court’s decision, he lost his Lok Sabha membership and had to vacate his government bungalow. But in August, the Supreme Court put a halt to the High Court’s decision, reinstating his membership and allotting him the government bungalow.
Reports suggest that Rahul handed over the keys to his old bungalow on April 23 this year, where he had spent 19 years. He then moved his office and some important belongings to 10 Janpath. It’s uncertain if he has returned to his official residence.
A senior Congress leader close to Rahul stated that he is still operating from 10 Janpath. No one knows when he plans to move back to his official bungalow.
Why hasn’t Rahul Gandhi returned? After the Supreme Court’s decision in August, Rahul has had the bungalow for over two months. It is believed that he is busy with preparations for the upcoming assembly elections, which is why he hasn’t returned yet. He has been touring continuously in the five election-bound states. Additionally, most Congress meetings are happening either at 10 Janpath or the Congress headquarters, which could be another reason he hasn’t had the time to return to the bungalow.
