Rahul invokes Kashmiri Pandit origin during Jammu visit

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi stated on Friday that he is a Kashmiri Pandit who feels at home every time he visits Jammu & Kashmir.

Rahul Gandhi is in Jammu for a two-day visit. On Wednesday, he visited the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine located in Reasi.

“My family is a Kashmiri Pandit Family. Today, I was greeted by a group of Kashmiri Pandits.

They claimed that the BJP had done nothing for them, whereas the Congress had implemented numerous welfare schemes for them. I have promised my Kashmiri Pandit brothers I will do something.

“J&K holds a special place within my heart, but I am also hurt.” The BJP and RSS want to break that brotherhood, but there is brotherhood in J&K. He claimed that the BJP had taken away the statehood of the people in J&K, which should be restored.

He raised his arm and said “Hand” meaning “Daro Mat”. Hand can be seen in the pictures of Lord Shiva or Wahe Guru. He stated that he would be visiting Ladakh after J&K.

During his 13-kilometre trek to the shrine, he paid obeisance to Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. He was accompanied by G.A.Mir, president of J&K Congress, and many party workers.
