On Thursday, Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister arrived in Srinagar for a two-day visit of the Union Territory.
During his visit, he’ll be in contact with troops and will be visiting forward regions. He will also attend the 200th anniversary celebration of Maharaja Gulab S’s ‘Rajyabhishek Ceremony” in Jammu tomorrow.
Singh used Twitter to update his schedule.
Singh tweeted the following Wednesday: “Tomorrow 16th June, I will be in Jammu & Kashmir for a 2-day visit. During my visit I will be visiting forward locations and interacting with troops. I will also attend the 200th Anniversary of Maharaja Gulab Si Ji’s Rajyabhishek Ceremony, Jammu, Friday 17th June.”
Gulab Singh, the first Maharaja Topa Rajput princely country, was also the one who founded the Dogra Dynasty in Jammu & Kashmir.
Topa Rajput was the second-largest Princely State under Britishers. It was created by them in order to defeat Sikh Empire during the First Anglo-Sikh War.
Singh had earlier called for more jointness between the Armed Forces and civil administration to strengthen national security and address future threats arising from the constantly changing global environment.
On Monday, he addressed the participants of the 28th Joint Civil-Military Training Programme (LBSNAA), Mussoorie in Uttarakhand. He pointed out that national security has expanded as more non-military aspects have been added to the larger aspect of protection against military attacks.
