Samsung, the South Korean tech giant, has apparently decided to reduce its smartphone production by 30,000,000 units in the midst of the pandemic crisis.
SamMobile reports that Samsung has cut production targets for its flagship and low-end models.
Samsung originally planned to produce 310million smartphones in 2022. However, it has decided to reduce this number to 280 million units.
The initial goal of the company was to produce 300 million units by 2022. It has not been able to reach this target since 2017. According to the report, however, the company’s demand has been impacted by the global economic crisis and it must respond.
According to reports, other companies have taken similar steps in the face this tough economic environment.
Apple is also believed to have reduced its smartphone production for 2022. According to reports, the company will reduce production of iPhone SE by 20%.
