Smartphones have become an integral part of our lives, and likewise, certain apps on our phones play a crucial role in our daily routines. WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and others are frequently accessed throughout the day. WhatsApp is not only used for personal communication but has also become a fast communication tool in workplaces. Many significant updates are conveyed through it, making it an essential part of our professional lives. If you use WhatsApp Web in the office, there’s an important setting you should enable for privacy.
Essential Setting for Privacy: There are instances when we open WhatsApp at one place and then move to another location, leaving our desk unattended. Whether it’s a meeting or any personal work, we might have to leave our seat. In such situations, if someone comes to your desk, they can easily view your chats. Besides personal chats, sometimes confidential projects also become visible to others. To prevent this, you can lock WhatsApp Web. The company provides an option for this in the settings.
How to Enable Lock on WhatsApp Web:
- Go to settings and then Privacy.
- Click on the Screen Lock option under Privacy.
- Enter a password. The password needs to be at least 6 characters long.
- After setting the password, you can choose the time duration for locking – 1 minute, 10 minutes, and 30 minutes. This allows you to immediately lock the screen, similar to WhatsApp, or set a specific time duration.
Note: Every time you turn on the screen lock, you’ll have to unlock it. WhatsApp Web poses a challenge that if you log out after turning on the screen lock, the next time you have to turn it on again. If you forget the password, you’ll need to log out of the account and set a new password.
Securing your WhatsApp Web with a screen lock adds an extra layer of privacy, ensuring that your chats remain confidential even when you step away from your desk.
