Stalin wants a multi-modal logistics park at Tuticorin, Coimbatore

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin requested Tuesday that the Central government establish multi-modal logistics parks at the state’s Tuticorin, Coimbatore.

He also requested that the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway be extended to Chennai International Airport, Irrungattukottai.

Stalin stated that the state government would provide all support necessary for the establishment of multi-modal logistic park in Tuticorin or Coimbatore in his remarks to the MoU signing function.

He stated that the state government would develop a plan for reducing the logistics costs of goods transport.

“TIDCO (Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Ltd.) has appointed a consultant to this end. Stalin stated that the state would soon have a plan.

The Rs 1,200 crore multi-modal park will be set up jointly by TIDCO, the Chennai Port Trust, and the National Highways Logistics Management Ltd (NHLM) in public-private-partnership mode.

In the virtual presence Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Ports, Shipping and Waterways minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and Gen V.K., Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, the MoU was signed. Singh (retd).
