Stock market strengthens for the second day, Sensex climbs 358 points to cross 52,600, Nifty also rises

Following the positive trend in global markets today, major stock indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty saw a rise in early trade on Friday. BSE Sensex started trading today with a strength of 644 points. During this, the 30-share BSE Sensex was trading at 52,909.87 with a gain of 644.15 points, while the Nifty rose 192.6 points to 15,749.25.

Market returned on the strength of these shares

IndusInd Bank, Hindustan Unilever, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Industries, UltraTech Cement, Dr Reddy’s, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank were trading with gains in the Sensex. On the other hand, Tech Mahindra, Asian Paints and Maruti Suzuki were trading in the red. Among other Asian markets, Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong and Shanghai were in the green in mid-session deals.

Crude oil continues to fall

Meanwhile, Brent crude, the international oil index, fell 0.17 percent to $109.86 a barrel. In the previous session, the 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 52,265.72 points, up 443.19 points, or 0.86 per cent. Similarly, the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty also climbed 143.35 points, or 0.93 per cent, to close at 15,556.65. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 2,319.06 crore on Thursday, according to provisional data from the stock market.

Rupee rises 12 paise against dollar

The rupee on Friday improved by 12 paise to 78.20 against the US dollar, recovering from its record low against the US dollar in early trade on softening crude oil prices. In the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 78.20 against the US dollar, showing a gain of 12 paise over the previous closing price. In opening deals, it went up to a high of 78.19 and a low of 78.24. On Thursday, the rupee had closed at a record low of 78.32 against the US dollar.
