Sub-junior hockey, The tops of the group is the Odisha high performance centre

On Friday, Odisha Naval Tata Hockey High-Performance Centre won victories over Olympian Vivek Sing Hockey Academy, Raja Karan Hockey Academy and Roundglass Punjab Hockey Club Academy in their respective matches at the 1st Hockey India Sub Junior Men Academy National Championship 2021.

The first match of the day saw Odisha Naval Tata Hockey High-Performance Centre win 3-0 against Naval Tata Hockey Academy Jamshedpur. This result places them at the top of Pool A. Premdayalgiri (4′), Ricky Tonjam (19’) and AryanXess (32) each scored a goal for the Odisha.

To remain undefeated in the league stage, Olympian Vivek Sing Hockey Academy defeated Namdhari XI 7-1 in Pool B. Anand Kumar Yadav (29) and 57′ scored twice each, while Irfan Husain (5’), Anand Yadav (32) and Arjun Chauhan (45’), Sajan Yadav (49) and Viveka Pa (53’) all contributed goals in their team’s second dominating win of the tournament. Namdhari XI’s Captain Navraj Singh (40’) was on the scoresheet.

Raja Karan Hockey Academy won the third match 9-1 against Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA). This was their best performance in Pool C. Jai (5’,52’) and Captain Neeraj (654’, 56’) each bagged a brace, while Rupinder S (7’), Ansh Kamboj (12’), Gourav Kumar (24) and Lovepreet (36’) each scored one goal for Raja Karan Hockey Academy. MSSA’s lone goal scorer was Seraj Ahmad (55’).

Roundglass Punjab Hockey Club Academy won the final match against Mata Sahib Kaur Hockey Academy Jarkhar – Ludhiana 6-0. Gursewak Singh (14’, 49’, 50) won a hat trick, while Captain Harmanjit Singh (10’), Prince Kumar (59’) and Himanshu Bansal (6’) each scored a goal to help their teams finish on top in Pool D.
