Goons in Thailand stopped the filming of a Malayalam movie based on the rescue of Thai children from a cave. Some locals stopped the shooting of Thaipong. Mathrubhumi.com’s Linchu Esthapan, director, said that these were local goons.
The Thai government granted permission for Action 22 to begin filming. The locals demanded money during the filming. Some were given without satisfaction. Then came the irritation. For filming, stones or gitch paint were added to expensive cars that were rented. After this, the director approached the police.
The Thai police agreed to resume filming after discussions with Murali and Subair Ali Khan (music director), Rajeev Mananthavadi and Jyothish José (production controller). It was also raining at that point. The locals, however, refused to take photos in the rain.
Lynch stated that, despite being economically backward in Thailand’s hinterlands, gangsterism appears to be growing despite this. The police intervened and stated that they could provide security to the shoot. However, he stated that the producer had refused to do so.
Lynch explained that the location was selected because it was based upon an incident in Thailand. Ramoji Rao Film City, Hyderabad is where the cast and crew will be filming.
Bharath, a Tamil actor, plays the leading role. Chandran Thikkodi produced Action 22 under the banners Kalesh Krishna Shankar and Shabarish Verma. Irshad and Lalu Alex Bharathi Creations are also involved.
