Rohullah Azizi was the brother of Afghanistan’s former Vice-President Amrullah Saleh. He was one of the leaders in Panjshir’s resistance front.
According to Khaama News, his relatives confirmed the news and said that Azizi’s body had not been given to them.
Taliban denied the news, claiming Azizi was killed in a conflict with them.
This is the second death in the family of Panjshir’s resistance front leaders.
Commander Abdul Wodood was the nephew of the slain guerrilla leader Ahmad Shah Massoud and was also killed with Fahim Dashti, the spokesperson for the front.
Taliban denied that they killed them both, and said that they were killed in the fight against the intra-resistance.
Panjshir, a province located northeast of Kabul, was the last remaining holdout. However fighting continues in some areas.
Officials from the resistance front claim that they have retaken some areas from the Taliban, but the Taliban has not yet commented.
