Tollywood actor Sai Dharam Tej was charged with rash driving after he fell from his sports bike in Hyderabad.
The Raidurgam police station in Cyberabad has registered a case against the actor under IPC Sections 366 (act enforcing life or personal safety), 279 (rash driving), and 184 (driving recklessly).
According to police, Sai Tej fell when his bike skid at 8.05 p.m. Friday. He was headed towards IKEA via Cable Bridge in Madhapur (the information technology hub of the city).
Police have taken the Triumph RS sports bike. According to reports, the actor is fond of bikes and had just purchased the 660cc-powered sports bike.
Sai Tej was the nephew of megastar Chiranjeevi. He was injured in the accident and was immediately taken to the Medicover Hospital, from which he was later transferred to the Apollo Hospital.
According to a police officer, the bike may have slid due to sand on road. He said that the actor was wearing a helmet and wasn’t under any alcohol influence.
In a medical bulletin, Saturday morning’s Apollo Hospital reported that Sai Tej was stable and that all of his major organs were working well.
The bulletin stated that he would continue to receive assisted respiration in his ICU for controlled close observation and additional investigations during the day.
Actor Naresh claimed that Sai Tej had taken the bike to his home on Friday night.
Naresh, Naveen’s close friend and son, said, “I heard the bike sound and I wanted him to talk to me but he had already gone.”
Naresh stated that he thought about counseling Sai Tej a few days back after learning more about his passion for biking.
The actor stated, “I wanted counsel him because it is very crucial for his career. It’s not appropriate to take risk.”
Naresh said that he was also fond of biking, but after an accident his mother advised him to give it up.
Naresh noted that Babu Mohan and Kota Srinivas Rao, the sons of actors, had died in similar accidents in their prime years of youth.
Sai Tej’s relatives, Tollywood stars and politicians visited the Apollo Hospital to talk to the doctors about their condition. They wished him speedy recovery.
After a visit to the hospital, T. Srinivas Yadav Telangana’s Minister of Cinematography stated that the actor was doing well and that there is no need to be anxious.
Chiranjeevi, his wife Surekha, and actor Ram Charan also visited the hospital. They also inquired about Sai Tej’s health.
The hospital was also visited by actors Prakash Raj, Manchu Viishnu, and Srikanth.
Prakash Raj, a reporter outside the hospital, stated that Sai Tej was a fighter and would return.
Srikanth stated that Sai Tej was stable and there is no reason to be worried.
