In a veiled reference to Pakistan, India also said that it should be ensured that banned organizations do not get any help from terrorist safe havens located in the region. India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations TS Tirumurti told the UN Security Council meeting on UNAMA that the presence of ‘ISIL-Khorasan’ in Afghanistan and their capability to carry out attacks has increased significantly.

At present, ‘ISIL-Khorasan’ is an affiliate group of the terrorist organization Islamic State, which runs its activities from Afghanistan. Tirumurti cited the findings of a recent report of the Sanctions Committee of 1988, which indicated that existing authorities in Afghanistan needed to take more robust action to meet their counter-terrorism commitments.
