M. Venkaiah Naidu, Vice President, will unveil a statue honoring the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi at Omandurar Government Estate.
M.K Stalin, Karunanidhi’s son and current Chief Minister, will attend the function.
A function will take place at Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai after the statue is unveiled.
Karunanidhi served as the record-breaking Chief Minister for five terms and was also elected to the State Assembly 13 times starting in 1957. He was the Chief Minister for 19 years.
He was a poet and movie scriptwriter.
Karunanidhi, the founding leader of the party, and the late Chief Minister C.N. were both steadfast DMK members. Annadurai.
Karunanidhi’s speeches and writings made him a popular figure among South Indians. He was also a key person in the formation of coalitions in New Delhi under both the UPA and NDA governments.
